Why we built Navo

Hey, thanks for taking the time to learn about Navo. I’m Dale, one of the co-founders. I’ve spent 35 years working at the intersection of technology and manufacturing, and the last seven have been with an aluminum casting manufacturer, working directly with procurement leaders at some of the largest OEMs in the U.S.

When tariffs started shifting in 2025, what had long been a back-office task quickly became a board-level concern. I became responsible for managing the HTS code spreadsheet for every part we made, and had to become the tariff expert overnight.

As the calls started coming in from procurement teams to confirm codes and rates, it became clear that even the largest manufacturers were still working out of spreadsheets, with incomplete and scattered data, no clear visibility across the BOM, and no fast way to react when tariffs changed.

That's why we built Navo.
